Our Story
Nikash Sahakarya was founded with a deep commitment to addressing the often-overlooked health challenges faced by marginalized communities in Nepal. While diseases like leprosy have been eliminated in many parts of the world, they continue to affect the lives of thousands in our country. Our founders, a group of health professionals, social workers, and concerned citizens, recognized the need for a dedicated organization to focus on NTDs in Nepal. Thus, Nikash Sahakarya was born—built on the principles of compassion, collaboration, and community empowerment.
Since our inception, we have worked tirelessly to bridge the gap in healthcare services for NTDs by providing specialized training for healthcare workers, conducting grassroots-level awareness campaigns, and advocating for better policies to address NTDs in Nepal.

The main objectives of Nikash Sahakarya in addressing NTDs include:
- Improving Access to Healthcare for NTD-Affected Communities: Ensure equitable access to medical care, diagnosis, and treatment for people affected by NTDs, particularly in remote and underserved regions.
- Promoting Early Detection and Timely Treatment: Raise awareness about the importance of early diagnosis and treatment of NTDs to reduce disease progression, complications, and transmission.
- Strengthening Public Health Infrastructure: Collaborate with government agencies to enhance healthcare infrastructure, including training healthcare workers, providing necessary medical equipment, and improving facilities for NTD management.
- Supporting Disease Prevention and Control Programs: Implement community-based interventions such as mass drug administration (MDA), Single-dose Rifampicin post-exposure prophylaxis (SDR PEP) for leprosy, vector control, and vaccination campaigns to prevent NTD transmission and recurrence.
- Advocating for Policy Support and Funding: Work with policymakers to advocate for more robust government policies, increased funding, and sustainable programs focused on eliminating NTDs (as diseases) in Nepal.
- Conducting Research and Data Collection: Conduct operational and epidemiological research to understand NTD prevalence, transmission dynamics, and risk factors in various communities, helping to inform targeted interventions.
- Raising Public Awareness and Reducing Stigma: Engage in awareness campaigns to educate the public on NTDs, reduce stigma towards individuals affected by these diseases, and promote social inclusion.
- Providing Rehabilitation services and Social Support: Offer rehabilitation services and livelihood support for people affected by NTD-related disabilities, helping them to have equal opportunities in society.
- Fostering Partnerships and Collaboration: Collaborate with international and national organizations, government bodies, academic institutions, and other NGOs to strengthen collective efforts in combating NTDs.
- Building Community Capacity: Empower local communities by providing training and resources to enable them to take charge of NTD prevention, health education, and care at the grassroots level.
Our Vision

These statements encapsulate the organization’s goal of addressing the health challenges posed by NTDs and tackling the social barriers and stigma associated with these diseases.
Our Mission
